Downhome values in a changing world

About Davy

Growing up the son of a small business owner, Davy Lowman learned the value of hard work, integrity and giving back to the community. Davy grew up in the Beam's Mill community, just south of Fallston in Upper Cleveland County. He is the son of Bob Lowman, a small business owner, and Janie Lowman, the music minister for New Prospect Baptist Church. After graduating from Burns High School, Davy went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Shortly after graduating from Chapel Hill, Davy moved home to take care of his father who was in the late stages of cancer and take care of his father’s business. During this time, Davy realized the true value of community and home; this was when Davy decided to go into public service. After his father passed away, Davy closed down the family business and went to work for Senator Walter Dalton and later for Senator Joe Sam Queen. Through these two Western North Carolina Senators, Davy saw firsthand the value of real leadership and what it can bring to our area.

After several successful years in partisan politics, Davy went on to serve as the North Carolina Elections Liaison at the North Carolina State Board of Elections in Raleigh. Working with State Agencies in Raleigh, Davy learned the principles of effective government and saw firsthand the price of straying from those principles. Currently, as a teacher to GED students at Gaston College, Davy sees everyday the importance of quality public education and the price we all pay for letting these students down.

The reason Davy answered that call to service: "I want our communities to have representation in Raleigh with our needs and our values at the heart of every decision because we deserve a representative that works as hard as we do."

"From now until the election in November, I will be asking you for your support, your prayers and your vote. With your help, we can build our communities through good jobs, quality education, and integrity in leadership."
