Downhome values in a changing world

On July Fourth, Davy Lowman Applauds Supreme Court's Second Amendment Ruling

As we celebrate our independence from tyranny and taxation without representation this July Fourth, North Carolina House District 110 Candidate Davy Lowman is applauding last week’s decision by the Supreme Court of the United States guaranteeing an individual right to gun ownership under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

“I believe that this landmark Supreme Court decision upholds an important right for the people of Cleveland and Gaston Counties – the right to bear arms. The decision, which I support, guarantees the rights of law-abiding sportsmen, hunters, and citizens who carry guns for the purpose of self-defense. The decision guarantees our rights while allowing local governments to keep weapons out of the hands of convicted criminals and the mentally ill. Freedom is one of our most important values, and I’m happy that on our great nation’s 232nd birthday, the liberties most important to our citizens are upheld.”

The cornerstone of Davy Lowman’s campaign is preserving our down-home values in our changing world. Growing up in Fallston, Lowman and his late father would often exercise their constitutional right to use firearms, whether they were out hunting or shooting skeet.

“The lessons my father taught me as a kid were validated by the Supreme Court’s decision. While things may be a little different today, the values remain the same – and our individual rights and liberties are still protected by the Constitution. When I take office as a State Representative next year, protecting our Constitutional rights will be one of my top priorities.”

Davy Lowman is the Democratic nominee for the open NC House seat in District 110. He lives in his hometown of Fallston.
